Indigenous Australia: Colonisation


Colonisation brought disease to Indigenous Australians. Smallpox, influenza and other diseases that Europeans had grown accustomed devastated the population as they had no bodily resistance to the new diseases. Less than a year later more than half the Indigenous population in Sydney had passed away from smallpox.
