Encyclopedia - a great place to start

The best place to start your research is the Encyclopedia.

Have a look at Britannica. It has different levels of information so you can start with easy information and jump to more complex material.

Wikipedia can be a good place to look for scientific articles. The way to judge a good Wikipedia article is lots of footnotes. If it says many times:

  • citation needed
  • ambiguous information
  • more detail needed

then you may have an article where the information is unreliable and needs to be checked.
